Senior Data Engineer / Data Architect
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer / Data Architect to lead the modernization of our airline operational data platforms. This role focuses on designing and implementing canonical domain models, Change Data Capture (CDC) pipelines, and cloud integration solutions. You will support critical operational domains including crew management, passenger services, maintenance operations, baggage handling, and performance analytics by architecting robust ingestion, transformation, and governance frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
Design and architect scalable data ingestion and transformation pipelines for operational domains
Develop CDC and streaming solutions using Kafka/MSK to enable real-time data synchronization
Implement canonical domain models and data governance frameworks across cloud platforms
Establish data quality standards and monitoring practices
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define data requirements and integration strategies
Lead CI/CD implementation for data infrastructure and pipeline deployments
Mentor junior engineers and promote best practices in data architecture and engineering
Required Qualifications
Experience & Education:
7 years of professional experience in data architecture and design
5 years of hands-on data engineering experience
Demonstrated expertise in CDC (Change Data Capture) and streaming technologies
Proficiency with Kafka or Amazon MSK (Managed Streaming for Kafka)
Strong experience with cloud platforms (Azure and/or AWS)
Proven expertise in data quality frameworks and governance practices
Experience implementing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for data infrastructure
Strong cross-team collaboration and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with AWS Flink for stream processing
Knowledge of DocumentDB or other NoSQL document databases
Familiarity with GraphQL for data API design
Cross-cloud integration experience
Background in airline, logistics, or transportation data systems
Experience with data mesh or domain-driven design patterns

Physical Requirements
This position requires the ability to work in a hybrid or onsite environment in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. The role involves sitting at a desk for extended periods, using a computer and other office equipment, and occasional travel for team meetings and conferences.
