Job Summary:
We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Cable Technician to install, terminate, test, troubleshoot, and maintain low-voltage cabling systems. The ideal candidate will have experience with structured cabling, Cat5e/Cat6, fiber optic cable installation, and network infrastructure in commercial or industrial environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, route, terminate, and label Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, and fiber optic cabling.
- Pull cables through conduit, ceilings, walls, and raised floors.
- Install cable trays, J-hooks, ladder racks, and other cable support systems.
- Terminate cables into patch panels, network racks, and wall outlets.
- Test and certify copper and fiber cabling using appropriate testing equipment.
- Read and interpret blueprints, floor plans, and wiring diagrams.
- Troubleshoot cable faults and repair connectivity issues.
- Install and mount network equipment, racks, cabinets, and wireless access points.
- Maintain accurate documentation of installations and testing results.
- Follow OSHA and company safety guidelines at all times.
- Collaborate with project managers, electricians, and other technicians to complete projects on schedule.
Required Qualifications
- 1–5 years of experience installing structured cabling systems.
- Experience with Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, and fiber optic cable installation.
- Knowledge of TIA/EIA cabling standards.
- Experience terminating RJ45 connectors, patch panels, and fiber connectors.
- Ability to read blueprints and construction drawings.
- Familiarity with cable testing and certification equipment (Fluke preferred).
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work on ladders, lifts, and in confined spaces.
- Reliable transportation and valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
- BICSI Technician or Installer certification.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
- Experience with data centers, commercial construction, or network infrastructure projects.
- Experience installing security, access control, CCTV, or AV systems.
Physical Requirements
- Lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Stand, bend, kneel, and climb ladders throughout the workday.
- Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to travel to job sites as needed.
