Verify before you act.

People are impersonating ApTask to offer jobs that do not exist. This page tells you how to confirm that a recruiter contacting you is really ours — and sets out how we handle your personal information, how call and text consent works, and how to reach us.

The one rule

Genuine ApTask email comes only from an address ending in @aptask.com

The one exception is the recruiting platforms we subscribe to — our applicant tracking system, scheduling tools, e-signature and background-check providers. How to treat those.

How to verify an ApTask recruiter

If anything about a message feels off — an offer from someone you have never spoken to, urgency, a request for money — stop and run these three checks before you reply, send documents, or pay anything.

  1. Read the full email address, not the display name

Anyone can put “ApTask Recruiting” in the name field. Expand the sender and read the actual address. If it does not end in @aptask.com, it is not from us.

  2. Call us on a number you looked up yourself

Call +1 (732) 355-8000 — taken from www.aptask.com, not from the message you received. Ask us to confirm the recruiter’s name and the role. A fraudulent message will supply its own “verification” number; never use it.

  3. Check the role exists

Ask the recruiter which client and which posting the role relates to, and confirm it with us on that same number before sharing documents or personal details.

How to read it

Anatomy of a fake sender

This is what an impersonation attempt usually looks like in your inbox. The part most people read is the part that offers no protection at all.

From
ApTask Recruiting Team <[email protected]>
Display name. Free text. Anyone in the world can type this. It proves nothing and is the only part most email apps show by default on a phone.
Actual address. This is the part that matters. Here it ends in aptask-jobs.com — not ApTask. This message is fraudulent.

Genuine

Our recruiters use a range of individual addresses and there is no single naming pattern — an unfamiliar name before the “@” is not by itself a warning sign. What matters is the domain after it: it must be exactly aptask.com — apart from the recruiting platforms described below.

Fraudulent

Lookalike domains, extra words, and free email accounts using our name. These examples are illustrative — any address not ending in aptask.com is not us.

One exception: the platforms we use

Some genuine messages reach you from services ApTask subscribes to rather than from our own domain — our applicant tracking system, interview scheduling tools, e-signature portals, and background-check providers. These send on their own vendor domains, so the address will not end in aptask.com. They are legitimate, but give them the same scrutiny:

  • A genuine platform email always follows something you already started — an application you submitted or a conversation with a named ApTask recruiter. An unexpected portal invitation for a role you never applied for is a warning sign.
  • It will never ask you to send money, share a bank login, or continue the conversation on a personal email or chat account.
  • It will point you back to a platform you sign in to — not to an attachment you must enable, or a link asking for your email password.
  • If anything is unclear, do not click through. Call +1 (732) 355-8000 and ask us to confirm the platform and the request before you sign, upload, or enter anything.

Our commitments

What ApTask will never do

A real ApTask recruiter speaks with you directly — by email, text or phone, whichever you prefer — before presenting you to any client. If a message claiming to be from ApTask does any of the following, it is fraudulent. Stop responding and report it.

Ask you for money — application fees, training fees, visa or processing charges, deposits, or cryptocurrency.
Ask you to buy a laptop, phone, software or other equipment, with or without a promise of reimbursement. Depending on the project, the client provides the device, ApTask procures and ships one to you for the duration of the assignment, or you use your own existing device where the client permits it — but you are never asked to purchase anything.
Send you a cheque or transfer to deposit and forward on to someone else.
Make you an offer out of nowhere. Some roles move fast, and a client can extend an offer on a resume review without a formal interview — but it will always follow a conversation with a named ApTask recruiter you can verify, and always arrive as a written offer or assignment letter through our onboarding process, never as a chat message alone.
Refuse to be verified. We reach candidates by email, text or phone — whichever suits you — so the channel itself is not the warning sign. What matters is that you can always call +1 (732) 355-8000 and confirm the recruiter’s name and the role before going further. Anyone who discourages that, or who will only deal with you through a personal account or an anonymous chat handle with no verifiable ApTask email address, is not ours.
Ask for your online banking login, password, or a one-time passcode — for any reason, at any stage. We do collect bank account details so we can pay you, but only after you have accepted an offer and only through our secure onboarding system — never by email reply, chat message, or a link in an unexpected message. No one needs your banking password in order to pay you.

Pressure is the tell. Fraudulent recruiters create urgency — a role closing today, an offer expiring tonight, a payment needed within the hour. A real ApTask recruiter will always wait while you verify who they are.

Report an impersonation attempt

Forward the message, with full headers if you can, to [email protected], or call +1 (732) 355-8000. Tell us the sender address, any phone number or chat handle used, and what you were asked to do. Reports help us get fraudulent domains taken down and warn other candidates.

If you have already sent money or shared bank details, contact your bank immediately. In the United States you can also report to the FTC at reportfraud.ftc.gov and to the FBI's Internet Crime Complaint Center at ic3.gov.
