Title: Power Markets Trader / Quantitative Energy Trading AnalystJob Summary
We are seeking an experienced Power Markets Trader / Quantitative Energy Trading professional with 8+ years of experience in wholesale electricity markets and energy trading. The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of ERCOT, CAISO, and WECC power markets, with broad trading experience across ICE, congestion, and spot markets.
The candidate should have a proven ability to develop proprietary trading strategies, analyze complex power-market fundamentals, and identify risk-adjusted trading opportunities while operating within established risk limits.
Key Responsibilities

Develop, implement, and continuously refine proprietary power trading strategies across ERCOT, CAISO, and WECC markets.

Analyze wholesale electricity markets to identify trading opportunities across day-ahead, real-time, congestion, and spot markets.

Conduct detailed analysis of market fundamentals, including:

Weather
-
Load / demand
-
Generation
-
Transmission constraints and congestion
-
Fuel prices and availability
-
Regulatory and market-design changes
-
Build quantitative models, analytical tools, and dashboards to support trading decisions.

Develop and maintain market-monitoring tools and trading analytics, including ERCOT Bal-Day dashboards and similar proprietary applications.

Analyze historical and real-time market data to identify market patterns, inefficiencies, and potential trading opportunities.

Collaborate with traders, analysts, and risk teams to evaluate and manage trading positions.

Negotiate and execute bilateral ERCOT power agreements and support commercial trading activities.

Monitor market positions and ensure trading activities remain within established risk parameters.

Perform scenario analysis and assess the potential impact of weather, generation outages, transmission constraints, fuel markets, and regulatory developments.

Translate quantitative and fundamental market analysis into actionable trading strategies.

Continuously evaluate strategy performance and make improvements based on market conditions and trading results.
Required Skills & Experience

8+ years of experience in power markets, energy trading, quantitative trading, or a closely related field.

Strong hands-on knowledge of ERCOT, CAISO, and WECC power markets.

Broad trading experience across ICE, congestion, and spot markets.

Proven track record of developing proprietary power trading strategies.

Experience building quantitative trading tools, dashboards, or analytical platforms.

Strong understanding of electricity market fundamentals, including:

Experience with ERCOT bilateral power agreements and commercial negotiations.

Strong quantitative and analytical background.

Hands-on programming experience with Python, SQL, C#, and/or R.

Ability to work with large datasets and develop analytical models for trading and risk management.
